The CERF ELN source code has been migrated to a modern, integrated development environment that emphasizes automated testing and quality management, and this new environment has helped us to completely overhaul the product. The acquisition of CERF ELN by Lab-Ally will also allow users to enjoy access to an extended range of informatics, training and consulting services, as well as other scientific resources that we believe will promote better, faster, more efficient research and enhanced confidence in the accuracy, searchability and long-term integrity of your data, documents and intellectual property. Here is what’s new in this release:
The CERF ELN source code has been migrated to a modern, integrated development environment that emphasizes automated testing and quality management, and this new environment has helped us to completely overhaul the product. CERF 5.0 has been refactored and updated for use with modern hardware, operating systems and security protocols. We are simultaneously releasing a family of tools consisting of a brand new iPad client called iCERF, the all-new CERF Exporter, a new version of the CERF Automaton (for capturing data files automatically at the source), new client installers for mac and windows, updated documentation and free live webcast training for any customer who wants it.

In this latest version, CERF’s already best-in-industry search engine is more powerful than ever, and now allows users to search for specific CERF resource IDs, and limit searches to specific file types or collections, better facilitating your organization’s ability to quickly locate key resources from within an ocean of data or documents accumulated over years or decades of use. In subsequent releases, the CERF search engine will also become increasingly important as a tool for building dynamically updated data sets and for the selective export of data, files and information summaries that can then be further analyzed with external tools.

CERF 5.0 can be deployed on a physical or virtual server, or on a cloud host of your choice. For maximum longevity and future-proofing we always recommend an on-site physical server that will be largely immune to changes in technology trends around it in the years to come and will give you the total control of your own data.
